Bradley Beal news: Washington Wizards star ruled out of NBA Bubble restart

Bradley Beal will not participate in the NBA Bubble restart because of a shoulder injury, as confirmed by the Washington Wizards.

The Washington Wizards announced today that All-Star guard Bradley Beal will not be participating in the Bubble restart in Orlando.

The Wizards confirmed through twitter that Beal will not play any part in the NBA Bubble restart in Orlando due to a shoulder injury.

“Bradley did everything possible to be ready to play, but after closely monitoring his individual workouts we came to the conclusion that it was best for him to sit out the upcoming games in Orlando and avoid the risk of further injury,” said Wizards General Manager Tommy Sheppard.

Bradley the start of the season faced issues with his right rotator cuff but managed it with the medical team and continued playing for the Wizards despite the niggling injury.

The symptoms worsened over the course of the forced break and Beal has decided not along with the team that it would be better that he doesn’t travel to Orlando. He will continue his rehabilitation process over the summer.

“This was a difficult decision and one that I did not take lightly as the leader of this team,” said Beal. “I wanted to help my teammates compete for a playoff spot in Orlando, but also understand that this will be best for all of us in the long term. I appreciate the support of my teammates, the fans, and the entire organization and look forward to returning next season to continue the progress we have made.”

What does it mean for the Wizards?

The Washington Wizards currently sit 9th in the eastern conference with a 24-40 record. They sit outside the playoff spots and did have an outside chance to make it into the playoffs.
But with their star player Beal, it looks really unlikely that will be able to qualify for the playoffs.

It seems like a wise decision by the team and Beal himself to not risk himself and try to regain full levels of fitness for next season.

Beal is rumored to change teams next season, so if he gets 100% fit before next season, he might be able to secure a deal with one of the top teams.

Before the hiatus, Beal was averaging 30.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.1 assists (career-high) per game. Only James Harden has more points per game this season that the Wizard’s guard.
