England white-ball coaching staff for Ireland series: Paul Collingwood and Marcus Trescothick get vital coaching roles
England white-ball coaching staff: ECB has given vital roles to former players keeping in mind the forthcoming ODI series against Ireland.
With the third Test of the ongoing West Indies series set to culminate on July 28 and the first ODI against Ireland to be played on July 30, England were highly likely to field two totally different sides for the Test and ODI format.
The announcement regarding a 24-member training group came as a welcome call for nine uncapped players and six players who were out of the English ODI side. While the squad will obviously be trimmed down for the three ODIs, the selection gives some reserve players to prove their mettle in two intra-squad matches.

Apart from 15 players, there have also been high-profile additions on the coaching front. Playing different teams in different formats also calls for a new support staff for ODIs.
Former England captain Paul Collingwood, who is currently playing the role of England’s assistant coach, will take charge of the ODI team as its head coach.
If Collingwood continued to play county cricket till 2018, another English veteran last played in 2019 and is now all set to work under Collingwood as the batting coach of the ODI team. Former Sri Lanka batting coach Jon Lewis will be assisting Trescothick as a batting coach.
“Paul’s [Collingwood] coaching team has an exciting feel to it with a number of the coaches possessing rich international experience.
“Marcus [Trescothick] spent time with our England white-ball squads during the winter and Jon (Lewis) brings with him World Cup experience from his stint as Sri Lanka’s batting coach,” ECB Performance Director Mo Bobat said in a statement.
