Daniel Ricciardo Accident: Renault driver takes accountability of the crash he did during the FP2 during the Styrian Grand Prix.

Daniel Ricciardo had a tough start to the second Grand Prix of the season after he crashed into the penultimate corner after he carried excessive speed into the fast right curve and completely lost the rear of his Renault before sliding through the gravel and into the tyre barrier.

Few hours after the race, the Australian racer has taken the accountability of the crash and took the majority of the blame upon himself while explaining what caused it.

“That first push lap was going quite well, up until Turn 9,” said Ricciardo. “It was a mistake. It all happened very quickly, so I’m not sure what went wrong.

“I turned in and just lost the car straightaway. I know these things happen with cars and in Formula One, so it’s not out of the ordinary. I’m ok, but I feel bad for the guys.” He further said.

Ricciardo hasn’t had a good start to the season, in the last race he didn’t even end the race as he had to retire his car due to an engine failure, while his teammate Esteban Ocon ended up 7th for Renault.

Daniel Ricciardo accident costly for Grid position

Daniel Ricciardo after the crash stood at the 20th position in the FP2 results. It could prove to be a disaster for Ricciardo as the weather forecast predicts heavy rainfall and storm in Spielberg.

Therefore, FIA will be compelled to cancel the qualifying round, and the results of FP2 might be considered the final grid positions before the race on Sunday.

So, nobody else apart from Ricciardo would be desperate for a qualifying round on Saturday, while he appears for Renault for final few times.
