"Question for Lewis and Fernando": F1 Reporter Hilariously Mistakens Max Verstappen for Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso has had an outstanding season so far as he has finished on the podium in every race, barring two. Because of the incredible campaign, he has had so far, fans and F1 reporters have become accustomed to seeing him on the podium.

However, even though Alonso failed to finish on the podium in his home race this weekend, an F1 reporter yet hilariously attempted to ask him a question before realizing that the man he was referring to was Max Verstappen. The Dutchman had an utterly dominant race weekend as he completed the grand slam.

Verstappen was joined on the podium by Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Both Silver Arrows also had a strong race weekend as they clinched their first double podium of the season. Hamilton finished in second with Russell finishing on the final step of the podium.

Fernando?“: George Russell confused by the F1 reporter’s question

The Spanish Grand Prix post-race press conference featured a hilarious moment involving Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell. A reporter began their question by stating, “Question for Lewis and Fernando“. On hearing Fernando Alonso’s name, all drivers present in the room seemed extremely confused as they all looked at each other.

Russell then confirmed who the question was for by asking, “Fernando?” On realizing their mistake, the reporter corrected their question.

“Question to Lewis and Fernando”

They then said that the question was for Lewis and Max, leaving all three drivers bursting into laughter. And to make the moment even more dramatic, Hamilton and Verstappen also looked behind their couch to ensure that Alonso was not present in the room.

Fernando Alonso had a disastrous home Grand Prix

After finishing the lowest fourth from his first six races of the 2023 campaign, Fernando Alonso had his worst race weekend in Spain as he only managed to finish seventh. Most of his disappointment came about after he had a horrible qualifying session when he only managed to qualify ninth.

With Alonso only managing a seventh-place finish, he lost a huge amount of the advantage he had over Lewis Hamilton in the championship. Prior to the Spanish Grand Prix, Alonso had a 24-point advantage over fourth-placed Hamilton and now his lead has reduced to just 12.
