Eric Spicely Released From UFC Following A Failed Weight Cut
Eric Spicely, who was found ineligible to compete at UFC Vegas 5, following a failure in cutting his weight to the defined standard, is now released by the UFC.
Eric Spicely’s bout against Markus Perez at UFC Vegas 5 was set till the weigh-ins. But, later the fight was taken off from the card, as Spicely was rushed to a hospital because of problems related to weight cut. The 33-year-old is reportedly taking antidepressants since his fight against Deron Winn, which took place back in June 2019, where Spicely suffered a concussion in the fight. As a consequence of the prescribed medication, he was forced out of the Saturday’s event (Vegas 5).
Post his withdrawal, he explained his status quo on twitter, where he wrote, “For the sake of transparency this was my first weight cut since starting antidepressants due to the head trauma I sustained in the Deron Winn fight. Needless to say it went horribly wrong and my fight is off. I will figure this problem out and hopefully be able to compete again.”
