Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin is a done deal, the German will replace Mexican driver Sergio Perez for F1 2021 Season
Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin: The four-time champion will race for Aston Martin from the 2021 season onward.
After weeks of speculation, the Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin has finally been formalised. The current Ferrari driver will make the switch after the end of this season. It is likely to be a 3 years contract, running until the 2023 season.
Vettel To Aston Martin
The news was confirmed by Tancredi Palmeri, on his Twitter account. He is currently a beIN Sports correspondent, and has worked with CNN. He tweeted: “Vettel will be the driver of Aston Martin, the new team currently known as Racing Point. (It) should be a 3 years contract, and Vettel will replace Perez.”

Announcement delayed due to Sergio Perez’s infection
Reports from Germany Mexico had suggested that the deal will be complated by the 2nd of August. This after Perez’s special exit clause deadline was reportedly the 31st of August, 2020.
But Perez’s sudden covid-19 infection before last weekend’s British Grand Prix delayed matters. Nico Hulkenberg had to be brought in as a replacement for the Mexican. And significantly for Vettel, he had to wait a little longer for the impending move.
Sky F1’s Ted Ted Kravitz had already confirmed that Sebastian Vettel to Aston Martin is a ‘done deal’. And that it is only a matter of time before the official announcement is made. To make Ted’s case stronger, Vettel was seen entering the car of Racing Point’s Team Principal after the British Grand Prix.
“At least something was going on this weekend and there is little doubt in the paddock that Sebastian Vettel will wear silver, green or pink next year. Depending on who will be the main sponsor of Aston Martin.”
