Toto Wolff claims unnamed rival team used 3D cameras to scan their 2019 car
Toto Wolff claims that an unnamed rival team copied their 2019 car designs by using a 3D camera; statement comes after Racing Point penalized.
According to BBC 5 journalist Jennie Gow, Totto Wolff has claimed that his team’s 2019 car designs were scanned by a rival team, which he did not name, through a 3D camera.
The statement comes after Racing Point was penalized by 15 points after Renault’s complaint to the FIA was upheld by the governing body. Therefore, this statement is probably targeting Racing Point only.

On the other hand, it can also signal that Wolff is probably calling his side innocent amidst the whole controversy, which sparked after Racing Point revealed their new designs.
Renault launched their complaint after the Styrian Grand Prix at the Spielberg circuit, Austria. As of now, Racing Point’s is yet to make a statement.
However, they have always maintained that they are innocent and team principal Otmar Szafnauer has constantly claimed that his side never had funds to replicate the Mercedes 2019 car.
While more teams speak up Toto Wolff is silent
Apart from Renault, more teams have now raised their objections against Racing Point, which includes Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Mclaren and Williams. McLaren’s Zak Brown has dropped a statement attacking Racing Point’s alleged malpractice.
McLaren’s Zak Brown on Racing Point verdict: “They claimed they had copied the car via photography. It’s clear from reading the document that is BS. So you have to question everything else around the car.”

Meanwhile, Renault’s team principal Cyril Abiteboul stated that he is considering whether to appeal against the sanction applied, as the steps were taken by FIA aren’t being considered decisive by other teams.
