Jos Buttler catch vs Pakistan: Watch English wicket-keeper grabs astounding catch to dismiss Shaheen Shah Afridi at Rose Bowl
Jos Buttler catch vs Pakistan: The English wicket-keeper dived full length to his right to grab a sensational catch at the Rose Bowl.
During the third day of the third Test of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of England in Southampton, England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler continued his extraordinary match by following his second Test century with an astounding catch to dismiss Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 86th over when Afridi’s attempt of playing a short delivery from Stuart Broad saw him edging the ball down the leg-side. In what wasn’t a straightforward chance, Buttler dived to his right to catch the with one hand while being airborne.
Buttler’s supreme effort saw Afridi walking back to the pavilion after scoring 3 (8) as Pakistan continued to go down the road. Broad, on the other hand, picked his second wicket of the innings after dismissing Pakistan spinner Yasir Shah (20) in the same spell.
England bundled out Pakistan for 273 in 93 overs to register a 310-run first innings lead. With Pakistan losing early wickets, them scoring these many runs wouldn’t have been possible had it not been for captain Azhar Ali’s 17th Test century.
Resuming from his overnight score of 4*, Ali remained unbeaten to score 141* (272) with the help of 21 fours as his 138-run partnership with wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan (53) formed the backbone of their innings.
As far as the English bowlers are concerned, veteran seamer James Anderson was the pick of them on the back of his 29th Test five-wicket haul (23-3-56-5).
