LeBron James, Lakers and Clippers vote to boycott NBA season; storm out of players’ meeting

LeBron James’ Lakers and the Clippers have voted to boycott the entire NBA season in lieu of the recent Jacob Blake shooting in Wisconsin.

Wth the Bucks leading the way of initiating boycotting of games, it seems the players are now in favour of boycotting the entire season.

In the currently ongoing players’ meeting in the Disney Bubble, teams are voting on whether to continue playing or to boycott the season entirely.

Players have been heavily affected by racial injustice and the increasing acts of police brutality in the country and want to play a role in changing the scenario all through the nation.

They firmly believe that this boycott would put pressure on the NBA and the owners to use their political influence to enforce change. And now, two of the contenders for the title this season have gone ahead and voted to boycott the remainder of the season.

Lakers and Clippers vote to boycott NBA season

According to a report by Shams Charania, the Lakers and Clippers want to boycott the entire NBA season and not just a few games.

The report states that LeBron James led the way for the Lakers and stormed out of the room by letting his intentions know. Post that, the Clippers too followed suit and exited the players meeting.

However, every team apart from the two Los Angeles franchises have voted to continue the season in the Orlando Bubble.

LeBron James also spoke about how the owners need to take more responsibility and act quickly in order to provide justice to Jacob Blake’s family.

With the boycott bringing forth a lot of financial implications, it will be interesting to see how Adam Silver and co. decide to approach this situation.
