Derrick Rose to Clippers: Pistons star to team up with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in LA; reports claim
The Detroit Pistons are considering a trade deal to send Derrick Rose to the Clippers, according to some rumours on NBA Twitter.
The Los Angeles Clippers bowed out of the playoffs in a spectacular implosion, blowing double digit leads in their last 3 games of the season to give up a 3-1 series lead.
Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were shut down by the Nuggets in Game 7. The duo combined for just 24 points on 10-of-38 shooting from the floor. This was Doc Rivers’ third loss from a 3-1 advantage in his coaching career.
Clippers seeking a trade deal for Derrick Rose from Detroit Pistons
Former NBA MVP and #1 pick of the 2008 NBA draft Derrick Rose signed a 2-year, $15 million deal with the Detroit Pistons last summer. He repaid the faith of the franchise by averaging 18.1 points and 5.6 assists per game in just 26 minutes off the bench.
A number of journalists considered him to be a worthy Sixth Man of the Year contender – a prize bagged by Montrezl Harrell of the Clippers.
Chris Haynes has now reported that Clippers are looking to get Derrick Rose to LA and team him up with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The trio could cause some serious damage next season, provided the Clippers sort out their ‘team chemistry’ issues.
The Clippers are reportedly looking to acquire Derrick Rose since their 2nd round exit.

Lou Williams is among the 9 players on the Clippers’ payroll for the 2020-21 season. The 33-year-old has also been rumored to be on the trading block after his poor performances in the series against the Nuggets.
A like-for-like trade sending Williams to Detroit makes financial sense. Rose is also a willing facilitator and a talented passer, but he doesn’t have the shooting ability of Williams.
How he fits onto the Clippers roster will be a problem for Doc Rivers should the veteran coach stay on next season.
