“LeBron James should’ve won MVP”: Skip Bayless takes dig at Giannis Antetokounmpo for MVP award, wanted Lakers star to win it
In a surprising turn of events, famed LeBron critic Skip Bayless said The King deserved to win the MVP trophy for the past NBA season.
Giannis Antetokounmpo became the first player this century to win the MVP/DPOY double yesterday. Just like the DPOY voting, the MVP voting was a landslide in his favour.
In fact, it was even more one-sided as he bagged 85 of the 101 first place votes and totalled 962 points. This was a sizeable 209 point lead for the Greek Freak as he became the first back-to-back MVP since Stephen Curry.
Skip Bayless says LeBron James deserved to win MVP this season
Normally an outspoken critic who never passes up an opportunity to pull LeBron down, FS1 Undisputed host Skip Bayless was surprisingly on The King’s side today.
According to him, James put up a performance worthy of a 5th MVP given that he compiled his best assists season of his career.

While the Bucks finished with a slightly superior record than the Lakers, many also docked points from LeBron for having a First Team All-NBA player supporting him.
Anthony Davis was the defensive anchor for the Lakers this past season and one of the NBA’s leading shotblockers once again. Giannis, by comparison, had Khris Middleton by his side, who’s no match for Giannis.
There was certainly a case to be made for LeBron James. Many, including the likes of Damian Lillard and Magic Johnson, had tipped him to be voted MVP for this season.
The late announcement of the award also deepens the belief that LeBron is by far the superior player. The Miami Heat exposed Giannis’s offensive shortcomings well enough to win 4-1.
