Lakers’ JR Smith elbows Anthony Davis and gets slapped by LeBron James while celebrating game-winner vs Nuggets
JR Smith has always been one of the most entertaining players in the league. He came up with another moment of comedic relief with AD and LeBron yesterday.
Normally the life and soul of the Lakers bench, Smith was beside himself with joy at the fashion of the Lakers’ win. Anthony Davis received an inbound pass from Rajon Rondo at the 3-point line on the left wing and swished a game winning 3-pointer.
This shot saved the Lakers much embarrassment as they were able to avoid a double-digit turnaround by Denver.
JR Smith elbows Anthony Davis by mistake, gets elbowed by LeBron James in return
As Davis wheeled to his teammates following his shot, JR was the first off the bench to try and shoulder bump him. He missed by a mile, however, and ended up thrusting his elbow into AD’s face. Almost immediately after, JR was pushed aside by an onrushing LeBron who wanted to congratulate AD himself.

The hilarity of the situation was not lost on NBA Twitter.
They embellished the contact made by both LeBron and JR in attempts to find comic links. Many remarked, tongue in cheek, that LeBron had been waiting for an opportunity like this since June 2018.
JR Smith continues to ride the bench for almost the entirety of games, but his energy is infectious.
He is the ideal LeBron teammate, and a really valuable plus to the Lakers’ team chemistry. One can almost feel them edging towards an inevitable title this year.
