Rahul Tewatia-Riyan Parag partnership: Twitter reactions on Rajasthan Royals pair sealing nerve-wracking chase vs SRH
Rahul Tewatia-Riyan Parag partnership: The duo from Rajasthan Royals put on display a remarkable comeback in Dubai.
During the 26th match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai, Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets in a nerve-wracking finish.
Chasing a 159-run target, Royals struggled for most part of their innings which comprised of them losing wickets and scoring at a paltry run rate. When batsman Sanju Samson (26) was dismissed by Sunrisers spinner Rashid Khan, Royals were restricted to 78/5 in 12 overs.
Needing 81 runs to win in eight overs with all their specialist batsmen back in the hut, RR thrived on the back of a match-winning 85-run partnership between Riyan Parag (42 not out) and Rahul Tewatia (45 not out).
It was on the last delivery of the 16th over when Parag hit a six off SRH pacer Khaleel Ahmed to break the shackles. In the following over bowled by Sandeep Sharma, the duo collected 18 runs to reduce the equation to 36 runs in three overs.
Royals then scored 14 runs each against Rashid Khan and T. Natarajan to require just eight runs in the last over. Eventually, it was Parag who hit Ahmed for a six to seal the chase on the penultimate ball.
Earlier, it was Sunrisers captain David Warner who won the toss and chose to bat. On the back of Manish Pandey’s 17th IPL half-century, 54 (44), with the help of two fours and three sixes, Sunrisers scored 158/4 in 20 overs. For Rajasthan, Jofra Archer, Kartik Tyagi and Jaydev Unadkat picked a wicket apiece.

When they buy a marquee player, franchises hope for 3 or 4 match-winning performances. In a team with four superstars, Rahul Tewatia, bought for 30 lakh, has already won Rajasthan two games #SRHvRR
