DC vs MI Man of the Match: The batsman from Mumbai Indians was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ award for scoring third IPL 2020 half-century.

During the 51st match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in Dubai, Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Capitals to further strengthen their position at the top of the order.

After Indians captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and chose to field, his bowlers justified his decision by restricting Capitals to 110/9 in 20 overs. A clinical bowling effort didn’t allow the opposition batsmen any opportunity whatsoever to flourish.

Mumbai spearhead Jasprit Bumrah caused the most damage with bowling figures of 4-0-17-3. With wickets of Stoinis, Pant and Harshal Patel (5) under his belt, Bumrah ensured that Delhi continue to struggle in the middle overs.

Other than Bumrah, Trent Boult also registered impressive bowling figures of 4-0-21-3. Pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile and spinner Rahul Chahar, on the other hand, picked a wicket apiece.

Chasing a below par 111-run target, Indians thrived on the back of opening batsman Ishan Kishan’s sixth IPL half-century. Opening with wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock (26), Kishan dominated against one of the best bowling attacks of this season.

Continuing his top form this season, Kishan ended up scoring 72* (47) with the help of eight fours and three sixes to be declared the ‘Man of the Match’ at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

“It was not as easy as it looked. The ball wasn’t coming on so I had to keep rotating the strike and then take them apart later. It all depends on the practice sessions, and how you train I wanted to keep my shape and hit sixes. My mom must get the credit for the food she gives me, that makes me so powerful, and sometimes even I’m surprised how my sixes carry such a long way.

“My coaches told me that playing shots on the off-side is important and that wasn’t my strength initially and I knew, even Rahul sir told me that I need to work on my off-side shots so I’ve been working on that this season and thankfully it’s showing in the match situation now. I enjoy batting everywhere, wherever the management wants me to bat,” Kishan told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
