ISL : ATK change their name to Amar Tomar Kolkata

The champions of the inaugural Indian Super League, Atletico de Kolkata have changed their name and rechristened themselves as Amar Tomar Kolkata.

Unsurprisingly, their fans were not too pleased about the change. ATK had tied up with Spanish giants, Atletico Madrid since the first season of the ISL. The Kolkata based team have a huge fan base, something that they leveraged very well.

Big things are expected from ATK this season, with English legend Teddy Sherringham now the new coach of the team.

But their name change has not been a good start to the season. This is how people reacted on Twitter to the new name.

The irony is that 'Yours and Mine Kolkata' is despised by both Mohun Bagan and East Bengal fans – the two biggest fan bases in the city.
