“It was the most difficult year for me until today”- Daniel Ricciardo expresses his thoughts on his last season with Red Bull.
Daniel Ricciardo with Red Bull was a lethal force, but his time according to him was over, when the team started viewing a future with Max Verstappen.
On one hand, Red Bull was allegedly investing in Verstappen, whereas, Ricciardo felt neglected and has claimed that it was the toughest year in his career in Formula1.
“Emotionally, that was the most difficult so far,” Ricciardo is quoted by Motorsport-Total.com. The Renault driver said he went through a roller coaster of emotions.
“At the beginning of the season it looked like I might be able to fight for the World Championship, then in the middle of the year I realised that I wanted to move on, and towards the end of the year it came down to drop out after drop out,”
Enjoyed the season despite not winning anything in 2019
Daniel Ricciardo despite winning two races in 2018, finished sixth in the Drivers’ championship. In the end, he parted ways with Red Bull and joined forces with Renault.
Though he didn’t win anything with Renault that year, he claims that he still enjoyed the season with the French team and learnt a lot with a new team in the grid.
“There were so many emotions, that it was the most difficult year for me until today, there were so many emotions, that it was the most difficult year for me until today,” he said.
This year, Ricciardo managed to bag two podium titles with Renault and had a fairly successful season, but he is still aiming high and wants his team to end highest possible this season.
Though, his time at Renault is almost over and will be heading for a new journey with McLaren after the last three races.
