Real Reason why Vince McMahon lost interest in EC3. The Impact star seemed destined for big things when he signed up for the WWE.

EC3 is a good looking wrestler with an amazing body. He is great on the mic and has a star presence about him. Many believed they were looking at a future WWE Champion when he joined NXT. He stayed at developmental for a little while before he was fast tracked to the main roster.

However, things soon began to fall apart for him. He was never used on television and when they did, he was only ever shown admiring his body. They refused to let him speak despite his mic skills being his USP. The only time he got to fight on live Tv was against a departing Ambrose. He won his first match but the crowd turned against him because it was apparent that he was being used by Vince to embarrass Ambrose on his way out.

It has long been believed that Vince gave up on EC3 for his failure to turn the crowd against Ambrose despite Ambrose being a crowd favourite for years. However, Dave Meltzer surprisingly believes that he was let go off by the WWE because he was a “so-so” performer inside the ring.

“Here’s what happened,” Meltzer revealed on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio. “So, they put him [EC3] over Dean Ambrose and he was supposed to be a babyface and it didn’t work in week one and then they pretty quickly… Vince just gave up on him.

“That’s what Vince does. I mean, could he have been a star… I mean, the guys a great talker, he’s got great presence in the ring, wrestling-wise so-so and I think in WWE where almost everyone’s a good worker and almost everyone gets pushed as a good worker, that so-so… you know, it’s funny because years ago, the cr**piest guys would get a push because they had good bodies. This guy has a great body and can talk.”

“Back in the 80s and 90s, fans didn’t have a clue who could work and who couldn’t. It was all about the bodies and to a degree the talking,” Meltzer continued. “I think he probably would have done really well in the 1980s. Today it’s just different standards and I think that they were of the opinion that he wasn’t going to be a good enough worker to make it on the big stage. He never had a chance. We’ll never know.”

EC3 has since returned to Impact wrestling following his release from WWE in April.
