‘Not like I died or anything’: Pelicans center Steven Adams tells us if he misses his Thunder teammates
In his latest interview, Steven Adams brushed aside the notion that parting from the Oklahoma City Thunder was hard.
Acquired by the New Orleans Pelicans in a 4-team trade that sent Jrue Holiday to the Bucks, Adams is set to line up with Zion Williamson as a starter. At the age of 27, Adams is right in the prime of his career. He will bring defensive solidity and rebounding presence to the team.
Cheers to Oklahoma City, thanks for taking me in 7 years ago. You guys have been awesome! I doff my hat to you for your hospitality. Always a pleasure, never a chore. pic.twitter.com/eRFhQTqIk0

It’s going to be a wild ride on the Pelicans, but Adams will be up for the challenge. He’s never been a member of any team with a record lower than .500, and he’d like to keep it that way.
Steven Adams hilariously dismisses thoughts of missing OKC Thunder too much
Speaking about the trade to New Orleans, Adams said:
“It’s all part of the business, getting traded and all that. But that isn’t really the difficult part. The difficult part is the relationship being built, and then you have to move on.”
“But it’s not like I died or anything, you know, I’m going to see them again. So I mean, that’s fine. Yeah, it was a good time in OKC but in terms of just coming here, it’s just like an exciting thing. Staying with an old school dude.”
Adams and the Pelicans begin their new preseason against Eastern Conference champions Miami Heat at the American Airline Arena on 14th December. Their only other preseason game is at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Both games will allow the Pelicans to test whether they are in the playoff race this season or not.
