Ben McDermott: Watch Hurricanes batsman’s massive six off Matt Renshaw hits Aurora Stadium’s roof
Ben McDermott: The batsman from Hobart Hurricanes counter-attacked when his team had lost three early wickets at the Aurora Stadium.
During the eighth match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers in Launceston, Hobart Hurricanes batsman Ben McDermott scored a counter-attacking 46 (33) with the help of two fours and three sixes to put his team in a decent position.
Adelaide Strikers’ bowlers justified captain Alex Carey’s decision of bowling first after winning the toss by restricting the opposition to 20/3 in the fourth over.
McDermott, who had come in to bat at No. 3 in the first over itself, got his eye in initially before attacking Strikers spinner Matt Renshaw.
On the last delivery of the sixth over, McDermott hit an ordinary delivery from Renshaw over deep mid-wicket for a massive six which ended up hitting the roof of the Aurora Stadium.
Having stitched a 75-run partnership for the fourth wicket alongside Colin Ingram, McDermott got out in the 12th over after playing against the line of a Rashid Khan delivery.
Much like McDermott, Ingram also departed after scoring 46 (35) with the help of four fours and two sixes as Hobart were once again put on the back-foot after the duo’s dismissal.
