‘Why’s Steph Curry shooting this shot?’: Draymond Green on change in Kevin Durant when people thought LeBron James was better even after 2017 Finals
Back in April this year, Draymond Green explained on the ‘All the Smoke’ podcast how Kevin Durant became disenchanted with the Warriors.
Durant and Green has an altercation after a game early in the 2018-19 season. It began when Draymond made the wrong decision not to pass to KD in clutch, ultimately leading to an L for the Warriors.
Green was asked by GM Bob Myers to apologize to KD. When he refused to do it, Green was handed a 1-match suspension by the franchise.
Many trade rumors were sparked from this incident. Although the Warriors began to rely on KD more than ever in the first and second round of the 2019 playoffs, it seemed like he always had one foot out of the door.
When did Kevin Durant start feeling disrespected by basketball fans?
According to Durant himself, his first championship did not bring him the ‘peace’ he was looking for. Draymond Green explained why that was to Matt Barnes:
“In my opinion he got the best of ‘Bron [in the 2017 Finals], like Kevin was f—in rocking. That was kind of that moment of like, damn Kevin should be the best player in the NBA now because of what he just did to LeBron. And it’s like, you turn on the TV the next day, and the f**in headline is: LeBron James still best player in the world?”

“You’ve got Stephen A. [Smith], you’ve got all these people debating it, and everybody’s still saying LeBron James is the best player in the world. That’s when I kind of felt like it took a turn. And then we came back for the 2017-18 season, and Kevin just wasn’t as happy.”
“All of a sudden it was kind of just like, ‘F—, why’s Steph shooting this shot?’ or ‘F—, he ain’t pass the ball’ or ‘Why’s Klay shooting this shot?’ or ‘Why he ain’t pass the ball?’ ”
