“I had a massive smile on my face the whole day” – Juri Vips cannot wait to get back driving a Red Bull after successful Young Drivers Test
“I had a massive smile on my face the whole day” – Juri Vips will speak to Christian Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko about driving a Red Bull again after a successful Young Drivers Test (YDT).
Juri Vips, the Red Bull junior driver, tested for the team during the Young Drivers Test (YDT) in Abu Dhabi. He did a brilliant job, doing over 100 laps as he finished sixth fastest. And, as he later revealed, had a smile on his face as he drove the RB16.
“It’s just a shame the test ended. I had a massive smile on my face the whole day. The car definitely lives up to the expectations.”

“I was a little bit worried about how it was going to be physically, especially about the neck, but we got through all of our programs – lots of mileage and I’m just very happy about the experience. Within two or three laps I felt confident in the car. It was very well balanced and it has a ridiculous amount of grip!”
Juri Vips received his FIA Super License last month, testing the RB8 at Silverstone. He was the reserve driver for Red Bull and AlphaTauri during the Turkish, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi GP this season. For the Young Drivers Test, he was partnered by former Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) driver Sebastian Beumi. When asked for his next chance with the RB16, Vips suggested he will pitch the idea to Christian Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko.
“I don’t know, I need to talk to Helmut (Marko) and Christian (Horner), but if it was up to me, I’d be driving it every day!”
