Amin Elhassan said that De’Aaron Fox thinks he’s as good as Ja Morant but isn’t. DeAaron Fox answered back.

DeAaron Fox and Ja Morant are among 2 of the most exciting and promising young point guards the NBA has to offer. The former was drafted behind 2nd pick Lonzo Ball but has proven that he deserved to be the first point guard off the board in 2017.

So much so that the Kings locked Fox up by maxing him out with a 5 year/$190 million deal. The Mempgis Grizzles lucked out in the 2019 NBA draft as they landed the 2nd overall pick. With this pick, they selected Ja Morant.

Morant has also shown that he is already a premier point guard in the league, winning ROTY and leading the Grizzles to a near Playoff berth in his rookie season.

Rachel Nichols was on the Jump, discussing whether or not Ja Morant will take a leap in his sophomore season. This is when Amin Elhassan decided to butt in.

His closing remark on the Morant discussion was, “He (Morant) is who DeAaron Fox thinks he is.”

This prompted DeAaron Fox to take to social media to address these comments, as he did not take them as lightly as they were perhaps intended to be. “Boy’s a b—ch, and everybody can tell him I said that.”

He then sent out a tweet saying, “Bro you don’t even know me. Even your co-workers asked why you said that. You disrespect and you get disrespected.”

Is it fair to compare De’Aaron Fox and Ja Morant?

Both point guards have similar playstyles. Fox and Morant rely on theur quickness and ball handling skills to create their own shot, while creating for others at a high level.

So a comparison between them shouldn’t turn a lot of heads. However, the way in which Elhassan phrased his comment was not very well thought out.

Fox is right, this was a disrespectful way of bringing about any comparison between the two.
