‘Daryl Morey is getting James Harden to Philly’: Fans feel Rockets star’s trade to Sixers is confirmed after automated tweet from GM
Social media can sometimes set off rumors unwittingly. That seems to have been the case with Daryl Morey and James Harden last night.
The former Rockets GM and current Sixers President of Basketball Operations, Morey has long been an admirer of James. He made one of the best trade deals in NBA history by landing Harden from the Thunder. Since that summer, OKC have never made it back to the NBA Finals.
The Rockets superstar has scored more points than anyone else in the league in these past 8 seasons. He’s a machine who’s just about as reliable as they come. Harden never misses extended spells with injury. And his combination of playmaking and shooting is something nobody else has in basketball.
NBA Twitter abuzz with James Harden trade rumors following Daryl Morey tweet
Morey decided to re-tweet one of The Beard’s individual accomplishments last season. In all probability, it was an innocent automated tweet, as is evident from the content in the tweet.

However, this did nothing to prevent the flow of misinformation across the internet. People began speculating wildly about Morey trying to finalize a deal for his preferred star. They didn’t even let up after Morey moved quickly to delete his tweet.
It seems people really want their stars to be on the move this offseason. Compared to 2019, this trade window has been a big dampener. Every major player slated to sign an extension has done so, including Anthony Davis and Giannis. Fans are desperate for some offcourt action.
The Harden trade has the best chance of materializing if the Sixers are willing to trade away Ben Simmons. But Morey has stated repeatedly that Simmons and Embiid are his guys and that he’ll be running with them. So for the foreseeable future, Harden to Philly is an unlikely eventuality.
