David Warner injury update: Justin Langer opens up on Warner’s availability for 3rd Test in Sydney
David Warner injury update: The senior Australian opening batsman has missed the first two Tests against India due to a groin injury.
Australia opening batsman David Warner has continually managed to become the topic of discussion since the commencement of the ongoing Test series between Australia and India.
Warner, who was expected a play a significant role for Australia against a daunting opposition in India, has missed the first two Test matches due to a groin injury.
Speaking at the toss on Boxing Day, Australia captain Tim Paine had hoped for Warner to return for the New Year’s Test slated to begin from January 7.
“We spoke about a lot of things after winning, series win is more important than a Test win. Hopefully, [David] Warner will be back for the next Test,” Paine told Fox Sports yesterday.

Around the lunch break on Day 2, Australia coach Justin Langer didn’t confirm Warner being a certainty for the third Test. While Langer didn’t completely rule Warner out, only time will tell if the 34-year old player will play his first Test in a year at the SCG or not.
“As we‘ve said for the last few weeks, there’s no-one more professional and he’s doing everything possible. We saw him bat the day before the game. He’s batting again this afternoon here at the MCG. So in terms of his batting, he’s flying.
“It‘s just trying to – he’s still having some trouble with his groin, and we know how dynamic he is, his running between the wickets, the way his movement’s all the time. We’re hopeful he’ll come good but time will tell. Fingers crossed,” Langer was quoted as saying by Channel 7.
