‘Karl-Anthony Towns’ situation made it very real for me’: Blazers’ Nassir Little explains his struggles with Covid-19 recovery, cites motivation from Wolves star

Sophomore Trail Blazers wing Nassir Little was one of the victims of Covid-19 recently. He detailed his experiences with The Athletic recently.

The no. 25 pick in the 2019 NBA draft, Little had a forgettable rookie season. Marred by a concussion that led to serious dehydration in the NBA restart, Little didn’t see much game time in the Bubble.

Then, right at the start of training camp for this season, Little contracted Covid-19. Diagnosed on December 1, he was in what he describes as ‘living hell that I wouldn’t wish upon anyone’ for 22 days. The swingman reportedly lost 20 pounds in those days.

In an interview with Jason Quick of The Athletic, the 20-year-old detailed his experiences and his hopes for the upcoming season. Little faces the tough job of cracking a rotation with RoCo, Melo and Hood all playing ahead of him.

Little says he took all measures to spread awareness about the Covid threat. Despite his best efforts, however, he became another victim of the pandemic.

“I’m not trying to sound morbid or anything, but it was to the point where it was like, you just don’t want to feel anything,” Little said. “It was really that bad. You just wished it would stop. It was consistent, 24/7 … just miserable pain. My back was hurting so bad, my headaches were terrible, I couldn’t eat anything …”

“For me, the Karl-Anthony Towns situation made it extremely real for me,” Little said. “A guy being in the league I play in, seeing that happen to a loved one of his, it made me realize it could be anyone, that it could be me. That made it very real to me, so I took it seriously.”
