“If I’m overrated, what does that make LeBron James?”: Fake quote by Warriors’ Steph Curry about Lakers star is trending on Twitter
A fake quote by Steph Curry trending on Twitter says the fact that he’s got his rings against a GOAT like LeBron James legitimizes them.
The Warriors look nothing like the world-beaters they did 2 seasons ago. With the departure of Kevin Durant and season-ending injury to Klay Thompson, the Warriors’ offense is severely shorthanded. This is placing all sorts of pressure upon the only unanimous MVP in league history.
Steph has gone from being the epitome of the gravity of a shooter to someone who barely gets space to get shots off. The lack of spacing alongside him makes it really tough for him to get open. The Warriors offense has been criticized by the likes of Kevin O’Connor this season.
Whether or not they’re able to run a motion offense, the fact remains that Steph will have a reduced impact this year. Curry needs all the help he can get if he is to lead Golden State back to the playoff stage. Whether or not he gets it is a whole different matter.
Context for the fake Steph Curry quote on LeBron James
The Warriors and the Cavs became the first NBA rivals to make 4 consecutive NBA Finals against each other last decade. While James snagged the 2016 title, Steph’s Warriors won 3 rings in 4 years. Acquiring Kevin Durant made them the most stacked team in NBA history.
However, with such lofty talent also came the scope to be heavily criticized for non-issues. One common criticism of Steph is that his teams from 2016 to 2019 were too unfair. Naysayers like taking credit away from him at every opportunity they get.
“I think it’s laughable that people want to invalidate my career after 5 mediocre games. Every one of my rings came against a man they consider the greatest ever. If I’m overrated, what does that make him?”
