“I’m really excited to see how it feels”- Sebastian Vettel shows his enthusiasm to drive his car on a Mercedes engine for the first time.
Sebastian Vettel in his lengthy career in Formula 1 has never driven a car powered by a Mercedes engine. While he was at Red Bull, the Austrian side was a partner with Renault, and in his recent stint, he was committed to Ferrari.
At his peak, Vettel never got to drive for Mercedes, but In the final phase of his career, he has signed with Aston Martin, who is clearly an ally of Mercedes, and talking about driving a car powered by Mercedes, and the German seems excited.
“I am really looking forward to the new challenge. I can’t wait to get started”, says Vettel in conversation with F1-Insider.com. “I don’t want to miss them, but I’m someone who always prefers to look forward.”
“Of course, I’m really excited to see how it feels,” he added. Aston Martin is a re-branded version of Racing Point, which has been in partnership with Mercedes since its Force India days.
Several new names and faces
Vettel is used to giving a new name to his cars every year to have a personal connection with them. Speaking on naming his new car at Aston Martin, he feels that he has to contemplate but already have some idea.
“I think I will do that again. I already have an idea. Anyway, it has to be a name that fits Aston Martin”, Vettel says. Furthermore, Vettel has stated that he is spending a lot of time in the factory getting to know new staff, as he has several new faces around him.
“At the moment, of course, there are a lot of new faces, but I’m sure it will work. You always have to open up to new things,” concluded Vettel.
