Max Bryant fielding vs Melbourne Stars: Brisbane Heat put on display arguably the best team fielding performance of BBL 2020-21.

During the 32nd match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars in Carrara, Brisbane Heat batsman Max Bryant continued to up the ante on the field in a match where his teammates registered what can arguably be termed as the best team fielding performance of this season.

Following Mark Steketee and Xavier Bartlett’s extra ordinary relay catch to dismiss Andre Fletcher (15) and Lewis Gregory’s sensational diving effort at deep square leg to send back Nicholas Pooran (16), Bryant put on display a couple of jaw-dropping fielding efforts.

On the penultimate delivery of the eighth over, Stars’ Nick Larkin hit a Steketee delivery towards the deep mid-wicket region for what initially appeared to be a six.

While it was eventually declared as a six, the same wasn’t without Bryant doing his utmost best to register another relay catch. However, his foot touching the boundary rope didn’t work in his favour.

On the second delivery of the next over, Larkin played a similar shot off Gregory but once again found Bryant at the deep mid-wicket boundary. With sole onus of saving a boundary upon himself, the 21-year old player emulated Sydney Sixers’ Jordan Silk to become a source of amazement for one and all as he saved four crucial runs for his team.

Chasing a 129-run target in a 10-over encounter, Stars were reduced to 110/5 in their allotted quota as Heat won the match by 18 runs (DLS Method). Despite Larkin scoring a hard-hitting 35* (16) with the help of four fours and two sixes, Stars couldn’t help themselves out of a fourth defeat this season in a rain-affected match.
