‘The Last Dance had a great perspective of Michael Jordan’: Former Wizards coach effusively praises award-winning documentary series on Bulls’ 1998 championship
Michael Jordan released his documentary series ‘The Last Dance’ last April, and the basketball world has been captivated by it ever since.
Much of the content was already in public knowledge during the show. But the cinematography, the themes picked out and the background stories done on each star brought us closer to our icons that before. We got a really close look at Dennis Rodman and his eccentricities.
The Chicago Bulls are the most iconic dynasty in basketball history. Through 8 years, they won 6 championships, threepeating twice. Mike was expected to win every single time, and from one point on, he always delivered.
The Bulls made the game a truly global sport. In the wake of the Dream Team going to Barcelona, global viewership of the game truly took flight. Jordan was at the forefront of it all, as the most famous athlete on the planet in the 90s.
Michael Jordan receives praise from Brian James for ‘The Last Dance’
In a podcast with Gordon Voit, former Wizards assistant coach Brian James discussed Michael Jordan at length. He also gave his take on ‘The Last Dance’, which he says was an amazing watch:
“It was like I was there. I saw all the news accounts, sports accounts because I was a high school coach in Chicago. So, I kind of knew what they were going to say right before they said it on the TV.”
“It was just amazing. I thought they did a wonderful job. It showed you a great perspective of where Michael was coming from and so many of those stories were obviously were very close to being accurate. It was just an unbelievable time for everybody in Chicago.”
.@HistoryJumpman and @NUMensBball will love this 😂
Young @WashWizards players used to bet MJ that he didn’t have A-listers’ numbers. So he’d just randomly dial people, like this megafamous singer ⤵️
