Romain Grosjean posts horrific injury scars in recovery update
Romain Grosjean posts about his recovery update and showcases his burn wounds received after the deadly crash during the Bahrain GP.
Romain Grosjean had a sad end to his Formula 1 career, as the injury obtained from the crash didn’t allow him to be back in action by the last Grand Prix of 2020 in Abu Dhabi.
Last week, Grosjean revealed that his left hand, which took most of the burns from the incident, doesn’t require the dressing anymore and on Tuesday he revealed his full scar on his left hand.
“My hands are back and Petrus isn’t too unhappy about it! It’s not yet pretty so please don’t swipe right if you don’t feel like it.” wrote Grosjean on Instagram.

Grosjean’s crash could have been the biggest tragedy to Formula 1 but credits to the advancements made in the sport, he managed to escape from the crash with only a few burns.
IndyCar interested in F1’s findings from Romain Grosjean crash
Indeed Grosjean’s survival was a miracle but it could have happened because of the halo technology and the outfit drivers wear before a race. Therefore, IndyCar, motorsport in the USA, approached their counterparts to analyze Grosjean’s crash to upscale their safety norms.
“We all saw what happened with [Grosjean], and what’s the result? Well, the result was what you want, and the driver was okay,” IndyCar President Jaye Frye said.
“And obviously it was a big incident, so we were already looking at some quick disconnect options on a few things, and when we get the report – the findings – on the F1 crash, we’ll also see if there’s anything in there we could do better, do differently with our frame and screen.
“Our system is different than theirs, but there’s a lot of similar things that can carry over.
“Throughout the course of the year, there were a few incidents that certainly came into play that had the positive results that we will always want, which was the drivers walked away.
“Overall, you don’t get too loud when something does its job as the Aeroscreen did; I mean, that’s what it’s there for. But it was a real success that a lot of people were part of, and we’re really proud of it.”
