“Dennis Schroder bet I couldn’t hit that 3-pointer”: LeBron James emulates Stephen Curry with a crazy look-away 3 while staring at Lakers bench
LeBron James was feeling himself in tonight’s game as he looked to the Lakers bench and Dennis Schroder while shooting a corner 3.
The Lakers ran out as blowout winners for the second game in a row against the Houston Rockets. They dominated their second-round playoff opponents from 2020 on both ends of the floor. It was a mark of how good they were that the Rockets didn’t come within touching distance after the initial exchanges.
LeBron James has been an excellent shooter from range over the last 8 seasons or so. He has days when he can’t miss, and the first half of today’s win over the Rockets certainly fits the bill. The King relocated to the left corner and swished a 3 while looking at his teammates on the bench.
The Lakers are now in rude health. With a 9-3 record, they are at the top of the NBA standings. LeBron James has barely broken a sweat this season. He’s enjoying himself possibly more than ever in his 18-year career.
LeBron James reveals his bet with Dennis Schroder
James was quite quotable in today’s post-game presser. He gave a candid answer explaining the circumstances in which he left the Lakers’ bench mob in a tizzy:
“Well my teammate hit me with a bet on the sideline. I took the bet while I was still shooting the ball. You know, a bet isn’t official till you look the man in the eye. So I had to look him into the eye and I was able to go in with that.”
James was asked a follow-up question as to who he made this bet with. Pat came the answer: “Dennis the Menace” – that’s Dennis Schroder for the uninitiated.

LeBron James has unwittingly consigned the Houston Rockets to life without James Harden this way. Harden admitted that his time in Houston had run its course, and that he doesn’t believe he can win a title in H-Town.
