BBL 10: D’Arcy Short drops sitter to hand Moises Henriques huge reprieve in Sixers vs Hurricanes match
D’Arcy Short drops sitter: The all-rounder from Hobart Hurricanes dropped a couple of catches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
During the 52nd match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Sydney Sixers and Hobart Hurricanes in Melbourne, Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder D’Arcy Short dropped a dolly to give Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques a massive reprieve.
It all happened on the second delivery of the 11th over when Henriques mis-timed a pull against Hurricanes fast bowler Riley Meredith. In what seemed to have hit Henriques high on the bat, he ended up lobbing it towards short mid-wicket.
Short, who was stationed at the exact position for a similar catch, had to move towards his right and complete one of the most simplest of catches. However, the 30-year old player erred big time to put down a sitter.
In what was that kind of a period of play for Short, he had conceded 14 runs off in the previous over after being introduced into the attack by Hurricanes captain Matthew Wade.
It is worth mentioning that Short had previously dropped Henriques off Scott Boland in the fifth over when the former had scored only three runs. Henriques eventually departed after scoring 43 (25) with the help of one four and four sixes.
Chasing a formidable 189-run target at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Sixers have a daunting task lying ahead with half their side back in the pavilion.
After Henriques won the toss and opted to field, Hobart scored 188/8 in 20 overs on the back of a 145-run opening partnership between Matthew Wade (86) and Short (72).
