Most sixes in a BBL season: The English batsman continues to flourish for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League this season.

During the 53rd match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder in Adelaide, Sydney Thunder registered a comprehensive 9-wicket victory to book a knockout spot.

Chasing a 116-run target in a 14-over contest, Thunder sealed the chase in the 13th over on the back of a match-winning 116-run partnership between opening batsman Alex Hales and captain Callum Ferguson (46*).

Having earlier scored a maiden BBL century, Hales brought up his 10th half-century in the tournament to propel Thunder to their eighth victory of the season. With 31 points to their name, Thunder are currently at the third place on the points table.

Hales, who won yet another ‘Man of the Match’ award for scoring 63* (39) with the help of four fours and as many sixes, is also the highest run-scorer this season till now with his 535 runs coming at an average and strike rate of 41.15 and 163.60 respectively.

Coming on the back of an equally impressive maiden season at Thunder last season, Hales is leaving no stone unturned in a bid to make a national comeback for England.

Most sixes in a BBL season

With a total of 53 fours and 30 sixes coming out of Hales’ bat this season, the 32-year old player tops this list as well. Hales’ four sixes at the Adelaide Oval tonight powered him to top another list – one that of hitting most sixes in a BBL season.

It is worth mentioning that Hales surpassed Melbourne Stars all-rounder Marcus Stoinis who had hit a total of 29 sixes in the previous season of the Big Bash League.
