“It is for the entire F1”- F1 boss Stefano Domenicali suggests that the engine freeze regulation is not for Red Bull alone and serves the rest too.
With Red Bull’s battle for an engine freeze confirmation is still going on, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has given an unofficial green light with his recent statement.
According to him, the engine freeze regulation is not going to be benefitting Red Bull alone, but to other teams as well, while also considering the budget caps.
“For sure, the anticipation [early introduction] of the freeze of the engine is a critical point,” he is quoted as saying by Motorsport.com. “But I don’t want to say only for Red Bull. It is for the entire F1 because, as you know today, the actual regulation and freezing are based on 2023.
“We want to anticipate the freeze because we want to save money to make sure the manufacturers and teams can invest in the new engine. And on the one side, that is a priority for a lot of the manufacturers.”
Engine freeze could be cost-efficient.
The new engine regulations are supposed to be released in 2026, though it has been speculated that they might be pushed a year above. Amidst this F1 is thinking if teams utilize their time to develop them while saving their resources by continuing on 2021 engine, it could be economical.
“The discussions that are in place are going in the right direction,” he said. “I don’t want to anticipate anything, but I’m confident everyone will understand the importance of these things happening.
“It is something that is for sure, at the centre of the discussion in that meeting. And I’m hoping everyone realises that is the best choice, for not only for Red Bull but for the entire world of F1.”
