“LeBron James will hit a shot or two when it’s not do or die”: Skip Bayless ridicules Lakers star despite his clutch shots in double-overtime win over Jerami Grant’s Pistons
Skip Bayless found a heaven-sent opportunity to clown LeBron James despite the 36-year-old’s clutch shooting against the Pistons last night.
The Lakers were stretched to the limit by a shorthanded Pistons team. Detroit showed heart and defensive acumen that belied their lowly league standing. The way they stretched the game to double-overtime despite 3 crucial absentees was truly commendable.
This was arguably one of the lowest-quality clutch games of the season. The Pistons were pretty bad at taking care of the ball, but the Lakers were even worse off. Both teams turned it over 20+ times – 22 for the Lakers and 20 for Detroit. Ugly offensive possessions and shot-clock violations seemed to be the running theme of the game.
The alarm bells would have been ringing for any team but the Lakers for an outing like this. But knowing what LeBron James can do, it would be best to call this a one-game anomaly. There may finally come a time when LeBron disappoints us, but that wasn’t this game.
Skip Bayless berates LeBron James despite his late 3-pointers
The FS1 Undisputed host got the chance to rain some disparaging tweets about James. This started when LeBron missed a layup to win the game, sending it to overtime. Skip Bayless then posted more of those as the game got to the second OT period. The best of them was this:
“As long as it’s not do-or-die, LeBron will finally hit a shot here or there.”
“James still took the game to two overtimes against the worst team in the NBA.”

James did indeed hit two clutch 3-pointers at the end of the second OT period to put the game beyond the Pistons’ reach.

The barrage started with an AD 3-pointer from the corner, after which James took over with an 8-point stretch to put the game to bed.
