Nvidia will be launching the RTX 3060 on 25th February this year
Nvidia seems to be working in overdrive ever since AMD’s new GPUs actually showed a lot of promise. However, given the amount of budget and raw power still left on the table, we can expect a few more new GPUs to show up. Coming back to the GPU at hand, the 3060 will be retailing for $329 and should give a stellar performance for the price.
Obviously, as the given card is a non-Ti card, it will probably have fewer shaders than the pricier $400 3060 Ti. This means that the performance of the 3060 will be a few percentages lesser than the 3060 Ti as well. According to Nvidia, the supply of GPUs will remain lean throughout Q1 of 2021. This means that GPUs will not be widely available until the end of April.
What kind of performance can you expect from the RTX 3060? Will the announced price actually stay low?
Being the non-Ti version means that the GPU won’t be beating the top of the line 20 series GPUs. However, as the 3060 Ti delivers 2080 Super levels of performance, the 3060 shouldn’t be lagging too far behind either.
So, you can expect performance between the RTX 2070 and 2080. Considering that the 2070 and 2080 cost $499 and $699 respectively, this is really good for all the budget gamers.
Coupling this with the next-gen CUDA and RT cores that the 3060 will be packing makes it a very good deal for the price. However, with the current tariffs being put on chipsets in the USA, you can expect a hefty markup in prices.
Not to mention the scalpers that will also be bulk buying the GPUs and selling them at increased prices. It seems that the gaming industry just can’t catch a break!
Nvidia, Intel, and AMD have asked Joe Biden to save the current gaming industry from the newly imposed tariffs. However, if you’re in the market for a new GPU, Nvidia has said that they will re-release new versions of the GTX 1050 Ti and RTX 2060. Hopefully, their move will help combat GPU shortages that have persisted for some time.
