“Looking forward to join RCB”: Glenn Maxwell elated after RCB buys him for INR 14.25 crore
Glenn Maxwell elated after joining RCB: The Australian all-rounder will play for his fourth franchise in Royal Challengers Bangalore.
In Royal Challengers Bangalore, Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell will play for his fourth Indian Premier League franchise. Having made his IPL debut for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2012, Maxwell has since then represented Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings (previously Kings XI Punjab).
Maxwell, a regular in the IPL for almost a decade now, has represented Delhi and Punjab twice though.
Known to earn big bucks in the biggest T20 league, Bangalore didn’t let Maxwell’s reputation go down despite him evident struggle to score runs in the last season.
RCB, who defeated Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings to acquire Maxwell’s services, spent a total of INR 14.25 crore to buy the 32-year old player.

Maxwell, who had most recently scored 379 runs at a strike rate of 143.56 including three half-centuries for Melbourne Stars in Big Bash League 2020-21, took to social media platform Twitter after being bought by RCB for a sumptuous amount.
“Looking forward to joining @RCBTweets for this years @IPL Can’t wait to put everything I have in to helping us lift the trophy!,” Maxwell tweeted.

In 82 IPL matches till date, Maxwell has scored 1,505 runs at a strike rate of 154.67. However, it is his below par average of 22.13 which doesn’t justify his potential in the cash-rich league.
Since IPL 2014, Maxwell has played more than 10 matches in each IPL season but has crossed the 200-run mark only twice. The right-hand batsman scoring only six IPL half-centuries is another area of concern which highlights how he mostly fails to play match-winning innings.
