“We lost, so it don’t mean nothing”: Anthony Edwards plays down his Dunk of the Year contender over Yuta Watanabe after Wolves’ loss to Raptors

6-foot-4 Timberwolves rookie Anthony Edwards blew up on social media with his incredibly abusive dunk over Toronto Raptors’ Yuta Watanabe.

Players who have been drafted in the league always have to prove their worth. But for a number 1 pick, the expectations are even higher. The 2020 NBA Draft’s 1st pick Anthony Edwards has been proving his worth for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On Friday night, the Timberwolves played against the Raptors. Despite the jaw-dropping poster dunk, the Timberwolves lost to the Raptors 86-81.

The rookie demonstrated his level head with his postgame reaction to the poster dunk. Edwards stated how the potential dunk of the year didn’t mean anything to him because his team lost. He also said:

“I’d be talking about it highly right now if we would’ve won. Due to the fact that we lost, it’s nothing to be excited about. It was a great dunk, but we lost, so it don’t mean nothing right now.”

‘As a team, we didn’t make shots’: Anthony Edwards blamed the team’s shooting for loss to Raptors

Despite having such a mind-blowing dunk, Edwards wasn’t impressed with himself. As he mentioned, he just wanted the win. The 19-year-old rookie finished the match with only 7 points and 4 assists on 3-14 from the field.

Postgame, Edwards explained how the poor shooting performance affected the team in their loss. He said:

“I don’t think nobody’s shots were falling. You look down the list, as far as our shooting percentage, I was like 3-14. I don’t know what it was, we were missing for real. As a team, we didn’t make no shots. So the dunk was great, but when you make no shots, we got to figure this out.”

“I don’t care about the dunk. I couldn’t make shots.”
