‘We’ve been asking LeBron James to do too much’: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope admits that the Lakers have been asking a lot from their MVP

Lakers shooting guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope admitted that the Lakers have been relying upon LeBron James too much.

Los Angeles Lakers are considered as the strong favorites to defend their title this year. With a few new acquisitions, the Lakers had gone all out to win their second championship in two years.

Although, the Lakers are currently going through some hardships as their All-Star Anthony Davis has been sidelined for eight games due to a calf injury. With Davis out in many games, most of the load has fallen onto superstar LeBron James.

KCP was thinking very much on those lines when he said this:

“I feel like the last couple games that’s been happening, putting a lot on Bron. We already know what we’re going to get out of him. So all the rest of us, we’ve got to continue to just play hard and just play basketball and not worry about anything else.”

‘We’ve got to be ready and locked in’: KCP on how they can help LeBron James in Davis’ absence

On Saturday night, the Lakers faced against a Jimmy Butler-led Miami Heat, in a finals rematch. This time, without the presence of Davis, the Miami Heat took a 96-94 victory.

Although Anthony Davis was sidelined with an injury, it didn’t stop him from motivating and coaching his teammates whenever they needed it. Caldwell-Pope mentioned that the supporting cast needed to rise up and help their 4-time MVP whenever required. He said:

“We try to help him out as much as possible, and we want to do it as perfect as possible, as we can. Try to help him out, we try not to make too much mistakes when we’re on the floor with him or even running a play with him, just to give him some help.”

“We do ask Bron for a lot; he gives us a lot each and every game. It’s up to us as far as like role players and ‘next man up’ mentality, we’ve got to be ready and locked in.”

The Lakers still have their championship hopes alive behind their 17-time All-Star, LeBron James. They now have the second-best 22-9 record in the whole league, only behind the red hot Utah Jazz. The Lakers next host Bradley Beal and Co. which will be a star-studded match.
