“Dennis Rodman might be 6’9″ in high heels”: When Michael Jordan roasted his Bulls teammate on live TV
Dennis Rodman goes by the nickname of ‘The Worm’ for a reason – he played way bigger than his height. Michael Jordan once joked about it on TV.
The Bulls legend teamed up with Dennis Rodman over the course of 3 seasons, from 1995 to 1998. Rodman’s inside presence gave the Bulls a real edge as they went on to 3-peat once again.
Many fans argue that Dennis Rodman should have gotten the Finals MVP trophy in the 1996 NBA Finals. He did an amazing job of containing Shawn Kemp and the other gifted Sonics scorers.
Michael Jordan jokes about Dennis Rodman’s height on live TV
Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman have many great memories with each other as Bulls teammates. We know of the time when Rodman infamously took off to party in Vegas in the middle of the 1997-98 season. Jordan also loved ribbing him in public even in those times, as he showed on this occasion:
“Dennis is the best rebounder in the game. He’s about 6’6″, maybe 220 pounds, that’s his size. I mean, most people think he’s about 6’9″, 240-245. That’s when he’s wearing heels… Don’t tell him I said that,” Michael Jordan said while Leno and the public were laughing.

MJ also added a great insight into how he took the rejection of being cut from his varsity team:
“Everybody goes through disappointments. It’s how you overcome those disappointments. And sure, I was disappointed as a high school kid not to make the varsity team. I mean that’s a status symbol, playing on the varsity team.”
“I was growing so much at the time that my ability wasn’t catching up with my height. So I was kind of clumsy. I knew how to play the game, but I just didn’t know how to play it at the highest level.”
