“Dear Meek Mill, I find this extremely offensive”: Vanessa Bryant responds to the Philadelphia rapper quoting Kobe Bryant’s death on his song
Vanessa Bryant advised Meek Mill to retract his lyrics from the hit single ‘Don’t Worry (RIP Kobe)’, in which he talks about the chopper.
The death of Kobe Bryant and 8 others in a helicopter accident in January 2020 sent shockwaves across the whole world. Kobe is revered as one of the greatest players of all time, and the greatest to play for the Lakers.
The likes of LeBron James and Marc Gasol are too affected by the death of Kobe to talk about it publicly. With the Black Mamba having attained cult status, joking about the manner of his death is considered to be in bad taste.
The lyrics for the song go as follows:
“This b*tch I’m f**king always telling me that she love but she ain’t ever showed me
Yeah, and if I ever lack, I’m going out with my chopper, it be another Kobe.”

Vanessa Bryant expressed her fury over Meek Mill’s line about the former Lakers star and blasted the rapper on Instagram:
“Dear @meekmill, I find this line to be extremely insensitive and disrespectful. Period. I am not familiar with any of your music, but I believe you can do better than this.”
“If you are a fan, fine, there’s a better way to show your admiration for my husband. This lacks respect and tact.”

Meek Mill is a well-known NBA fan. Hailing from Philadelphia, Meek has often been spotted repping the Sixers at their games. He has explicitly stated that he intends no disrespect at the Bryant family with his lyrics.
So far, Mill’s refused to apologize for his lyrics. But he may have to issue a much more sobering statement than his demeanour has indicated.
