“Kobe Bryant needs to be on the NBA logo”: Kyrie Irving is campaigning for the Lakers legend to replace Jerry West on a new-age logo
The Nets’ star guard Kyrie Irving continues to pitch the idea of having Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on a new-age NBA logo to Adam Silver and co.
The Brooklyn Nets continued their rampage tonight, as they registered a 129-92 blowout win over the Orlando Magic. This marks their 8th straight win, most of which have come in the absence of Kevin Durant.
Even though KD is sidelined with his hamstring injury, the Nets have managed to improve to a 22-12 record. They are just one loss behind the Sixers for the top spot in the East.
While KD has been out, his All-Star teammates have been shouldering the burden. James Harden is averaging 29.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, 10.6 assists, and 1.1 steals in the last 6 games. Kyrie, on the other hand, has been putting up 26.4 points, 5 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.8 steals in the same time.
Kyrie Irving is all for changing the NBA logo to Kobe Bryant
The NBA logo, since 1967, has been a silhouette of the retired Laker Jerry West. However, looking at all that has been happening in and around the USA, people believe now may be the perfect time to change it.
Kyrie Irving, in his talks with the media tonight, reaffirmed his statement that “Black Kings built the league.” He said, “my thing is paying homage to the example that’s been set by that man. Kobe Bryant. Logo. Yes. Needs to happen. I don’t care what anyone says. Black kings built the league. That’s exactly what I meant, it’s exactly where I stand.”
Kyrie Irving further echoes his call for Kobe Bryant to be the new logo of the NBA:

Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant had already given her blessing when Kyrie voiced this opinion earlier. With everything that’s happening, if the NBA were ever to change the logo, now’s the time, and Kobe is the perfect replacement.
