LeBron James hilariously expresses his wish to be retired as an All-Star captain: ‘I want to retire from being an All-Star captain with a perfect 4-0 record’
LeBron James jokes about how he’s done captaining All-Star teams, now that he has a perfect 4-0 record in the steward’s role.
In his 18 years in the league, the King has made an impressive 17 consecutive All-Star games. The one time the King didn’t make it, he was a young rookie in the league.
Four years back, the league turned the All-Star Game format. From the original Western All-Stars versus Eastern All-Stars, into captains selecting their teams. Ever since the change of the format, King James, unsurprisingly, has been named as an All-Star captain for all four years.
On Sunday, Team LeBron had a dominating 170-150 win over Team Durant. With this win, the Lakers megastar has a perfect 4-0 record being a team captain in the annual event. Jokingly, James stated how he’d want to retire from being an All-Star captain to keep his impeccable 4-0 record intact. James wished:
“I hope that they allow me to retire from being an All-Star captain, so I can retire with a perfect 4-0 record. I’ll keep that forever. But we’ll just see what happens. I always try to pick the right team, and I’ve been lucky enough for four years to pick the right team. Guys go out and compete and play to win. I’ve been on the winning side of all four.”

LeBron James has an impressive track record as LeGM
There is no doubt that King James is a great player. His highly impressive resume tells us, how he is easily one of the legit candidates for the GOAT conversation.
But, apart from his breathtaking style of play, his GM skills are also commendable. The fact that James has assembled game-winning teams, all four years, speaks highly of his General Manager skills. He defeated Team Curry back in 2018. Handed Team Giannis back-to-back losses in 2019 and 2020. Won his fourth consecutive All-Star game after a commanding win over Team Durant this year.

In his 18th NBA season, James is in the middle of yet another brilliant season. He is hoping to lead the Lakers to their back-to-back championship. We surely won’t be surprised if we saw LeBron James as a captain of an All-Star team next year too.
