“Steph Curry and Draymond Green laughed about it!”: Steve Kerr reveals how the Warriors’ stars reacted upon getting to know James Wiseman’s punishment

Warriors’ Head Coach Steve Kerr reveals how Stephen Curry and Draymond Green reacted upon hearing James Wiseman’s punishment.

The Golden State Warriors, or, Steve Kerr in particular recently punished James Wiseman. During the All-Star break, Wiseman missed a mandatory COVID-19 test, which did not sit right with Kerr. He planned to bench the promising rookie for the entire game, but due to it being a blowout loss, Wiseman was given the chance to play in the 4th quarter.

In the 12 minutes Wiseman got on court, he did not disappoint. He scored a quick 14 points, going 6-of-7 from the field, and grabbed 7 rebounds. The Warriors’ rookie has shown glimpses of brilliance when given a chance, and there are a lot of expectations from him.

After making his decision to bench James Wiseman for the game, Steve Kerr went and discussed the same with his stars Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. Both the Warriors’ stars have had their share of struggles as a rookie, and they both laughed while recalling them.

The two played their years in college before joining the league, and they know about the discipline required in the league. Wiseman, who played just 3 games for Georgia before making it to the NBA, has to learn that lesson still.

Steve Kerr recalls the conversation he had with Steph and Draymond about Wiseman, and said:

“It was not a difficult call to make especially for a guy who’s 19 and figuring things out. I talked to Steph and Draymond, you know they laughed thinking about their time when they were rookies in this league, and remember those guys played college basketball for three, four years also — they were older and more experienced.”

The 19-year-old center has a lot of potentials, and under the guidance of the Warriors’ coaching staff and experienced roster, he can blossom into a force to be reckoned with. Hopefully, he would be more responsible in the future, and not make such mistakes again.
