“My home is Aston Martin”- Sebastian Vettel rejects the possibility of moving to Mercedes anytime soon, as he finds solace.
Sebastian Vettel recently moved to Aston Martin, which seems to be an ambitious project by the boss Lawrence Stroll. The appointment of the four-time world champion is an exhibition of it.
On the other hand, Aston Martins biggest ally Mercedes is showing its uncertainty with Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel is propping out as one of the big names to replace him.
However, the German race driver has rejected the possibility of moving to the Brackley based team in the near future, as he claims Aston Martin his home.
“I don’t know what Hamilton’s plans are, except that he signed for only one year, but I also know that my home is Aston Martin, where there is a lot of work to be done,” Vettel commented on his future, according to the French magazine Auto Hebdo.
Mercedes might not lose Aston Martin’s hand.
Vettel also discusses the possibility of Mercedes providing them with “first-class” equipment, even if they eventually outgrow the suppliers in future.
“I don’t know if Mercedes looks at my passport or not, but what I think is that if a client team proves capable of winning, the main team will continue to provide first-rate equipment.”
“If we are at the level of beating Mercedes with the same engines, it will allow us to do it,” Vettel concludes. During the pre-season testing, both teams showed similar issues.
Speaking of Vettel, he had the minimum track mileage throughout the weekend compared to the rest of the grid. He even confessed that he might need 100 more laps before settling with the new car.
Meanwhile, he also supported Mercedes by insisting that they would eventually bounce back to the top, despite the underwhelming pre-season testing in Bahrain.
