“Coaching Kevin Durant in the 18-19 season was tough, there was a lot going on”: Steve Kerr explains why he enjoyed being Warriors head coach after KD left Steph Curry and co
Kevin Durant made 3 NBA Finals in his 3 seasons with the Warriors. But Steve Kerr revealed that his final season with Golden State was tough.
KD is considered the greatest talent in modern basketball history after LeBron James for a reason. At a height of 6’10.75″ barefoot, KD is one of the tallest players on the court at all times. He still displays guard-like ball-handling skills, but he can also shoot over everyone in the world.
It takes very little to get KD going, and Durant is among the lowest-maintenance superstars in league history. He’s normally content to take 17 shots in a game, making 10 of them and getting to the free throw line 5-6 times.
Kevin Durant has also been a willing playmaker for 7-8 seasons, so he doesn’t even ballhog like other all-time scorers. Durant really was the complete package at the Warriors, but he never got the props that he deserved there.
Steve Kerr reveals that it was tough coaching Kevin Durant and co in 2018-19
Steve Kerr made the outrageous claim tonight that coaching a Finals team was tougher for him than finishing with the league’s worst record last year:
“That last year was tough. There was a lot going on — some that you know about and some that you don’t. That was very difficult.”
Kevin Durant is no longer the type to take this type of insult lying down. He responded saying ‘This is hilarious’ on his Twitter in the replies to this thread.
Steve Kerr told @loganmmurdock he enjoyed last season (when the Warriors went 15-50) more than Kevin Durant’s final season with the Warriors.
“That last year was tough. There was a lot going on — some that you know about and some that you don’t. That was very difficult.”

You have to side with KD as a real basketball fan on this one. There was no need for Kerr to take such shots at arguably his best individual season with the Warriors. KD truly was second to none when it came to being a selfless superstar with the Warriors, and he continues to bring that mentality to his time with the Nets this season.
