Jofra Archer Injury Update: Rajasthan Royals pacer to undergo minor surgery on Monday

Jofra Archer Injury Update: The English and Rajasthan Royals fast bowler is set to miss the starting of Indian Premier League 2021.

It was a day after the culmination of a five-match T20I series between India and England in Ahmedabad that visiting fast bowler Jofra Archer was ruled out of the three-match ODI series.

Archer, who had missed a couple of Test matches due to an elbow injury earlier this year, aggravated the same injury to not just miss the ODI series but also the starting of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

Archer, who is doubtlessly the leader of his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack, has given a significant scare to them with his recent injury. Since joining Royals in IPL 2019, Archer has picked 46 wicket in 35 outing at an economy and strike rate of 7.13 and 17.93 respectively.

It was only a few minutes ago that ECB (England Cricket Board) provided an injury update with respect to the 25-year old player. Archer, who has already underwent scans and had another elbow injection, will now undergo a minor surgery ahead of his planned break from the sport.

“Jofra Archer will undergo a procedure to his right hand following a scan and subsequent Consultant review since he returned to the UK on Tuesday. The procedure on Jofra’s hand will take place on Monday 29 March so he can recover during the planned break following his elbow injection,” ECB said in a statement published on their website.

Providing no exact relief to Rajasthan, ECB didn’t specify a date regarding Archer’s availability. However, it was previously said that the right-arm bowler would be available to play for Royals at some stage of IPL 2021.
