Is Lungi Ngidi playing: The fast bowler from Chennai Super Kings had missed their season opener as he was undergoing a mandatory quarantine period.

During the eighth match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won the toss and chose to field.

“We will bowl first. We will get hit off good deliveries but it is important to assess as a bowler. Cricket is a mental game and adaptability is a key factor. Overall, it’s a mental game than the physical aspect. Looks a bit tacky and a bit more grass. Bit of dew settles down a bit and in the second innings as well, the first few overs are really crucial,” Dhoni told Star Sports during the toss.

Is Lungi Ngidi playing today vs CSK?

Punjab Kings captain Lokesh Rahul, on the other hand, talked about how he didn’t find faults in his bowlers going for aplenty in their season opener against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week.

“We did well in the last game and we should try and assess the pitch and put some runs on the board. Pitch looks good. When [Sanju Samson or] any set batter is batting it is tough to control and I try to encourage my bowlers and even if they go for runs it’s okay. Supporting them and backing them is really important,” Rahul told Star Sports during the toss.

As far as the changes for this match are concerned, both teams will be taking the field with the same Playing XI despite their contrasting results in respective first matches.

The development means that Super Kings will be once again without spearhead Lungi Ngidi, who had missed the first match as he was undergoing a mandatory quarantine period upon traveling from South Africa.
