Bairstow hit wicket in cricket: Jonny Bairstow registers rare dismissal in MI vs SRH IPL 2021 match
Bairstow hit wicket: The wicket-keeper batsman from Sunrisers Hyderabad was dismissed in an unfortunate manner tonight.
During the ninth match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai, Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow registered a rare dismissal to get out after an impact-generating knock.
It all happened on the second delivery of the eighth over when Bairstow’s attempt of ramping Mumbai Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya led to his dismissal. Well inside his crease, Bairstow was looking set to play the shot but before he could make contact with the ball his back foot ended up hitting the base of the stumps.
Chasing a 151-run target at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Bairstow made optimum use of an opportunity of opening the batting alongside captain David Warner. It was Bairstow’s dismissal which put an end to a 67-run opening partnership between him and his skipper.
Bairstow, who scored an impact-generating 43 (22) with the help of three fours and four sixes, witnessed his team continuing the trend of struggling in the middle overs while chasing a total at this venue.
After Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat, his team scored a below par 150-5 despite a 55-run opening stand between Quinton de Kock (40) and Sharma (32) himself. With bowling figures of 3-0-19-2, Hyderabad all-rounder Vijay Shankar was the pick of their bowlers on the back of his career-best bowling figures.
