Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair accused of fake crying before their historic Wrestlemania clash. The two closed out the first night of Wrestlemania 37.

Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair was historic for several reasons. Apart from being the first time two African American women faced each other at the show of shows, this was also the first time two African American performers of either gender clashed with each other for the world title. The fact that this was the main event was just the cherry on the cake.

The magnitude of the event was certainly not lost on either women as they struggled to hold their tears before their match.

However, John Cena’s father does not believe that the moment was genuine. Speaking to Boston Wrestling MWF’s Dan Mirade, John Cena Sr. revealed that he believes that the women were instructed to do so.

“I’m going right back to where the fault belongs: W-R-I-T-E-R-S. Who wrote that session for those young ladies to come in and start crying? Somebody had to write it. No, I don’t believe that [that the crying was real]. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes [Banks and Belair were instructed to cry].”

The historic bout received widespread praise from both critics and fans. The match was acknowledged as one of the best mania matches. Many also considered the opening moment between both women iconic. However. John Cena Sr. did not think that the moment added to a match that he felt “lacked a lot of luster.”

“I thought there were a few highlights in that match, but I will say this to you. As a guy, and you know I’m an advocate of women’s professional wrestling, I backed them before they even started this [Women’s Evolution]. I think it lacked a lot of luster and I don’t think the opening [crying] helped put any more polish on the show.”
